Lindner Prater’s remit also included roof works consisting of: a hot melt package; a plug planted green roof and ballast finishes to the courtyard roof and inverted hot melt waterproofing. In addition, a sedum blanket green roof was installed on the main hotel block.
The location of the hotel provided a logistical challenge to the project. The site’s boundaries abutted the Great Eastern Road where the carriageway and vehicle movement could not be obstructed, whilst also having to maintain pedestrian access within 4m of the façade. Stratford Rail Station was also in close proximity to the north of the site. To overcome this challenge, Lindner Prater liaised closely with Network Rail to ensure strict railway protocols were maintained.
In addition to adhering to strict protocols, the Lindner Prater team adopted a ‘just in time’ approach to deliveries and underwent detailed coordination and advanced planning of material, plant and labour movements to ensure all trades were working in a safe and efficient manner.
